Families attending the Lambda Craft and Vendor Fair this year will find a new attraction designed especially for children.
Organizers announced the addition of a Kid Zone to the annual event, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Andrew Lewis Middle School, 616 College Ave. Admission is free.
The Kid Zone will feature face painting, balloon animals, a Valentine’s Day card-making station, a photo booth, and oversized games including Connect 4, Jenga and cornhole. Organizers said the new area is intended to ensure the fair offers activities for all ages.
The craft and vendor fair is hosted by Lambda, a local chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary sorority for educators. The group holds the event annually as a fundraiser to support scholarships for future teachers.
Proceeds from the fair fund a $2,000 scholarship awarded each year to a graduating high school senior pursuing a career in an education-related field. Organizers said the group plans to increase the scholarship amount to $2,500 next year.
In addition to children’s activities, the fair will feature wall-to-wall crafters and vendors, door prizes awarded throughout the day, a bake sale and festival food.
“Join us for a great day of shopping, food, and fun. You will also find amazing handcrafted and vendor gifts for Valentine’s Day,” Tarri Gauck, art teacher at McHarg Elementary School, said.
