Shenandoah scored with 1:36 left in regulation to take a 7-6 win over Roanoke College in the ODAC women’s lacrosse quarterfinals last Wednesday in Salem.

Shenandoah jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Annie McCorry and Brittany Arndt at the 24 and 22 minute marks.

Roanoke responded with back-to-back goals just one minute apart as Mckenna Polak and Katie Clements found the back of the net to make it a 2-2 game.

Jacque Hemler scored off an Abby Zorrilla pass with just 17 seconds left in the first half to give the Hornets a 4-3 lead headed into the intermission.

Roanoke went on a 3-0 run to start the second half, sparked by a goal from Julia Galanto with 27:19 on the clock to make it 6-4 RC. Shenandoah evened the game with goals from Zorrilla and Hemler to make it 6-6 with 12 minutes remaining in regulation.

With 1:36 on the clock, Zorrilla scored the game-winner to give SU the tournament win.

Clements finished with two goals for Roanoke. Salem’s Emma Blair made nine saves, including five in the second-half.

Roanoke closed the season with a 6-11 overall and a 6-2 conference record. Washington & Lee went on to win the tournament in Lexington Sunday.
