The Salem Parks and Recreation Department announced the 2023 Movies at Longwood schedule last week. On Friday, May 19 at Longwood Park, the free monthly entertainment begins with the Disney animated picture “Jungle Cruise.” This is an adventure-filled Amazon jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the riverboat captain and Emily Blunt as a determined explorer on a research mission. Also starring in the film are Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti. The movie will begin at dusk, around 8:30 p.m., and admission is free for all ages.
This year’s other movies for the summer of 2023 include – “Minions The Rise of Gru” on June 16, “Lightyear” on July 21 and “Sonic 2” on Aug. 11.
These Friday night events are designed for the entire family to enjoy a free night at the movies under the stars, so everyone is welcome to bring chairs and a blanket. A variety of cinema-style concessions will be available from The Tailgate.
