Feeding Southwest Virginia partnered with the National Association of Letter Carriers and the United States Postal Service to help jump-start Roanoke’s annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive and inspire Southwest Virginia residents to participate and contribute to the food drive on Saturday, May 11. Stamp Out Hunger is recognized as the nation’s largest single-day food drive and offers a convenient way for individuals to make a meaningful impact on those experiencing food insecurity. Local residents participate by filling the provided bags from United Way of Roanoke Valley and the National Association of Letter Carriers with non-perishable food items and leaving them out for mail carriers on May 11.
Those who spoke at the event at the organization’s Salem distribution center included Pamela Irvine, CEO and president of Feeding Southwest Virginia, Jenny Hall, president of Roanoke NALC Branch 524, and Rick Keener, vice president of the National Association of Letter Carriers.
