In honor of the Major League Baseball playoffs, and out of necessity, we’re going to have a playoff of our own for the football contest this week.
Last week’s contest was a dead heat, a real Mexican standoff you might say. Randal Sowers and Danny Webb both missed three games to tie for the week. That sent it to the high point total, which was 56 by Auburn High over Eastern Montgomery, to break the tie. And, as luck would have it, both Randal and Danny had 56 for their high point total.
So, we have a playoff this week for the $50 gift certificate from Mac & Bob’s. For Randal and Danny only, put a big star on your entry blank this week so I know it’s you. The one who does the best this week will get the $50 gift certificate. AND, that doesn’t disqualify you from also winning this week.
For last week’s 19th Hole question I asked you to predict how many yards Jordan McCadden would rush for against Blacksburg last week. Jordan ran for 209 yards, as reported by Salem High statistician Dave Sampson, and believe it or not Danny Webb was closest with a guess of 215. No one tied him for that, so he gets the free day of golf at the Salem Municipal Course on Academy Street.
For this week’s 19th hole, give me your prediction on the big Salem-PH game at Merrill Gainer Field in Roanoke Friday. The closest to the actual score gets a free day of golf. – Brian Hoffman
