
The Roanoke College men’s soccer team was shut out for the fifth time in nine games this season when the Maroons dropped a 2-0 decision to Washington & Lee in Lexington last Saturday. The Generals are the eighth-ranked NCAA Division III team in the nation.
W&L scored first in the 36th minute and doubled their lead in the 58th minute. Denzel Marufu recorded three saves for Roanoke while Miles Furman made three for W&L. Ed Law and Slate Danforth each had two shots for the Maroons but weren’t able to find the net.
Roanoke took a 3-6 overall record into Wednesday’s game at Kerr Stadium in Salem against the University of Mary Washington. This Saturday the Maroons have an ODAC game at Hampden-Sydney.
