UTLEY CHOSEN INTERIM PRESBYTER
The Rev. Carl Utley, who has been serving as interim minister of Covenant Presbyterian Church near Salem for the past year, has been named to a similar position with Presbytery of the Peaks with headquarters in Lynchburg. He will begin his work there on May 1 succeeding temporarily the Rev. Nancy Dawson who has retired as the executive General Presbyter. The presbytery is the administrative body to coordinate the work of congregations of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. serving churches from Southside Virginia to the New River. At the Covenant church the search will continue for a permanent senior minister to succeed the Revs. Bob and Dusty Fiedler who retired 14 months ago.
