Paul “Mr. Coffee” Kenneth Underwood Sr., 73, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by parents, Howard and Mattie Underwood and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Shirley Underwood; daughters, Sarah Underwood, Reese Williams and husband, Jimmy; sons, Paul Underwood Jr., Calvin Morris; grandchildren, Kelly Willis, Keewana Lee, and Logan Williams; great-grandsons, Cash, Gabe, and Landon; sisters-in-law, Myrtle and Brenda; and brothers-in-law, Preston, Byrney, and Bud.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Pastor Don Esherman officiating. Interment was in Trinity Cemetery. HILL, Lester Rodney, III
Lester Rodney Hill, III, 38, of Glen Wilton, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017.
Survivors include his mother, Donna Jean McCulley Hill; sisters, Mary Ann Mundy (Scott Taylor), Sarah Jane (Kristin) Hill, Robin Ann (Lewis) Dudley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at the Eagle Rock Baptist Church Cemetery at 3 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, with Pastor Edith Snedegar officiating. WELLS, Charles E.
Charles Edward “Charlie” Wells Sr., 80, of Fincastle, passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday morning, August 22, 2017.
He was preceded in death by parents, William I. and Ressie Lacks Wells; three brothers, Earl, Raymond, and Lewis Wells; three sisters, Ethel Eubank, Martha Wells, and Alma Smith; his son, Charles (Chuck) Wells Jr.; his wife, Barbara; and the love of his life, Sandy Rycroft.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Larry Crane; son and daughter-in-law, William and Jill Albers; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Chad Krantz; daughter-in-law, Debra Wells; granddaughters, Kristie and Shane Fisher, Tara Krantz, Taylor and Hannah Albers; grandsons, Michael and Timothy Krantz; great-grandsons, Kaleb and Aiden Fisher; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Richard Mayes; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Charlie was a Lifetime Member of the Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department, Charter Member of The Buchanan Moose Lodge, and Founding Member of the Round Table of the North Star Restaurant where he met with his friends and owner, Debbie Painter, every morning. Charlie was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger.
The family received friends Sunday, August 27, from 1-3 p.m. in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, followed by the memorial service at 3 p.m. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery, c/o Billy Ray Teaford, 2016 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Fincastle, 24090.
