Priscilla Duke Evans, 78, of Virginia Beach, and originally of Salem, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, January 31.
Priscilla was born on Wednesday, July 26, 1939, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Frank Miller and Jessie Wheeler Duke. She grew up in Salem and was a proud member of Andrew Lewis High School Class of 1957. After a long and successful career in marketing and advertising, Priscilla retired. She always had a smile on her face, a twinkle in her eye and a kind word for everyone. She was loved immensely by all who knew her.
Priscilla is survived by her daughter, Lisa Bayse Baar and her husband, Eric; grandchildren, Meredith and Spencer Scavone; sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and T. Garth Nelson; aunt, Hazel Wheeler Shelor; and nieces, Jane Nelson Herbert and her husband, Doug, and Cynthia Nelson Barnhurst and her husband, Doug. Priscilla also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will miss her greatly.
The family received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. The funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 9, in the funeral home’s chapel. Interment immediately followed at Sherwood Memorial Park.
