The Salem High boys were fifth and the girls were ninth in the VHSL Class 4 swim meet in Richmond last Saturday. The Jefferson Forest boys and Jamestown girls won Class 4 state championships.
The best finish for the boys was a second in the 200 Free Relay with the team of Logan DeWalt, Ben James, Nick Lawson and Jake Lawson. The 400 Free Relay team of Nick Lawson, Shayom Debopadhaya, DeWalt and Jake Lawson placed third.
Individually, Nick Lawson was third and brother Jack was sixth in the 500 Free. In the 200 Free Jake took sixth and Nick was ninth.
Debopadhaya was seventh in the 100 Fly and eighth in the 200 IM for Salem. DeWalt was 13th in the 100 Free.
For the girls, Anna Clare Fleenor was fourth in both the 50 Free and 100 Breaststroke. The girls’ 200 Free Relay team of Ellyn Anama, Sandy James, McKenna Habeeb and Fleenor took a fourth and the same foursome was eight in the 400 Free Relay.
