Lewis and Glenvar middle schools battle to tie in baseball game, AL wins softball

The Andrew Lewis baseball and softball teams met Glenvar in Thursday middle school action last week. The baseball teams tied while the Lewis girls got their first win with a 17-1 victory over the Highlanders.

Lewis’ Sydney Price pitched whole game against Glenvar while Yazmiah Ashwell hit a triple with three runs batted in. Bayleigh Booth went three-for-three with a walk and Hannah McNeil had a double and two RBIs.

The baseball game ended in a 9-9 tie. Lewis tallied two first inning runs, only to see Glenvar tie the score after one.

The second inning was one of high scoring, with Lewis scoring five times to lead 7-2.  Three outs later, following some timely hitting by Glenvar, the Highlanders surged ahead, 9-7, after three innings.

Hard-luck starter Chase Greer yielded to Camden Hart, who held the Highlanders at bay with some solid relief pitching.  In their last at-bat the Wolverines scratched for two runs to tie the contest at 9-9. Hart wiggled out of trouble as the time limit came and passed, marking the second no-decision in as many weeks.
