The Salem High lacrosse teams split a doubleheader with E.C. Glass at Spartan Field last week. The girls took a solid 18-4 win and the boys lost, 14-5.
Roanoke College bound senior Lilly Blair led the Spartan girls with seven goals and an assist as the Salem girls remained undefeated at 3-0. Libby Bowman added five goals and an assist for Salem while Kara Yates had three goals, and Madi Caldwell dished out four assists.
“It was probably one of our cleanest games yet,” said Salem coach Maggi Pace. “The girls had beautiful transition passes and were being much more selfless on offense. That’s the pretty part of lacrosse, so I hope we keep trusting each other there.”
The boys fell to 2-2 with the loss. Zach Mason had three goals and Trent Cheyney had the other two along with an assist.
The Salem teams are off this week, returning to action Monday with a home doubleheader against Christiansburg.
