The Salem lacrosse teams proved to be too talented and experienced for first year Christiansburg teams as the Spartans swept a doubleheader at Spartan Field Monday. The boys won the first game, 13-1, and the girls took the nightcap, 22-2.
Evan McMillan and Zach Mason had three goals each to lead the boys’ team. The Spartans are now 3-2 and will play at Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg Friday.
Lilly Blair had five goals and two assists for the girls. Libby Bowman and Kara Yates had two goals each and 14 different girls scored for the Spartans. All of the girls played multiple positions on the field and both Maddie Bowman and Emma Painter got time in the goal and field. Alla Daniel had 10 draw controls and Libby Bowman added four.
“We are using the rest of the week to prepare for Albemarle on Monday,” said coach Maggi Pace. “They beat Western Albemarle by one tonight(Tuesday), so we know it’s going to be a tough one.”
With Monday’s win the girls remained undefeated at 5-0.
