The Glenvar High baseball team had a loss, a tie and a rainout in the past week. The Highlanders lost to Northside, tied Covington and were rained out at Radford on Tuesday.

Glenvar let one get away at home against Northside last Wednesday. The game was tied 1-1 in the top of the sixth before Northside finished strong for an 8-2 win, scoring six runs in the seventh inning.

Cody Alexander pitched the first six innings for Glenvar, allowing three runs and striking out eight. Ryan Butler threw one inning of relief.

“We lost despite out-hitting them 11 to 8,” said Glenvar coach Ben Amos.

Logan Lucas was four-for-four at bat while Butler and Hunter Phlegar had two hits each.

On Friday the Highlanders played host to Covington and settled for a 4-4 tie in a game they could have won. Glenvar left 15 runners on base before the game was called a tie due to darkness.

Phlegar pitched six and a third innings and Butler got the last two outs.  Jordan Pickard had two hits for the Highlanders.

Glenvar was scheduled to play at Radford on Tuesday but that game was rained out and rescheduled for May 7. The Highlanders are at Carroll County Friday.
