Salem will be the “City of Champions” once more as NCAA Division II softball and Division III lacrosse tournaments will be held here over Memorial Day weekend.
The NCAA Division II softball tournament will begin this Thursday at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem. North Georgia is the top seed and will open the tournament today at 11 am against Southern Indiana.
Four games are scheduled for today at two and a half hour intervals. Angelo State will play West Chester at 1:30 pm, followed by Saint Anselm against Southern Arkansas at 4 pm and Chico State against Saint Leo at 6:30 pm.
Two winners bracket games will be played at 11 am and 1:30 pm on Friday, followed by elimination bracket games at 4 and 6:30 pm. The tournament runs through Memorial Day, with the championship set for noon.
The NCAA Division III lacrosse tournament will also be held in Salem this weekend. Semifinals are Saturday at Kerr Stadium at Roanoke College as Gettysburg will take on Salisbury and The College of New Jersey will play Middlebury. The championship is Sunday afternoon.
