Sydney Bobo, Rachel Bobo, Kai Bowen, Elizabeth Bocock, and Ava Roshi of Hidden Valley take a break during Monday’s meet at Castle Rock.

The weather wasn’t great but Roanoke Valley Aquatic Association swim teams were able to get their meets in Monday night. Stonegate was at the Elks’ Club while the Hidden Valley team was at Castle Rock.

Stonegate defeated two teams, scoring 986 points. Elks Lodge was second with 835 and Vinton came in third with 256.

Some highlights for the Gators included Boone Fleenor winning the 13-14 boys 50 fly and 100 free, while sister Anna Clare Fleenor won the 15-16 women’s 50 fly and 100 free. Adrianna Hall won the 13-14 women’s 50 fly and 100 free, Ben Shenal took first in the 17-18 men’s 50 fly and 100 free and Chris Tucker won the men’s 60-69 50 fly and 100 free.

At Castle Rock, the Blue Wave took on the host team and Limestone Park in temperatures ranging in the low 60s. Several Hidden Valley swimmers moved into Silver or Gold with improved times and many six and unders swam legal in the 25 backstroke.

“The Blue Wave adults continued to improve their times and bring in points for the team,” said coach Robin Bowen. “A huge congrats to all of the swimmers for their great swims.”

Hidden Valley will host Read Mountain and Limestone Park next Monday night at 6 pm while the Gators host the Roanoke Country Club at Stonegate.
