Sixteen protestors, organized by Preserve Salem and the Roanoke River Prayer Vigil, along with members of the New River “Greens,” held banners and signs as they walked on Main Street and in front of Salem City Hall to show their concern that the gas pipeline construction could endanger the water supply for the Roanoke Valley.Youngest participants in the walk to preserve Salem’s water were Tessa Warner, 3, and her sister, Maya, 1. They strolled with their mother, Shelly Warner, and their grandmother, Cynthia Munley, one of the rally’s organizers.
