The Salem Red Sox will conclude a four game homestand with Winston-Salem tonight at Haley-Toyota Field, then embark on a seven game road trip that will find them playing four games in Wilmington and three in Buies Creek.
The Sox took four of five from Potomac through the weekend, finishing the series with four straight wins. They returned home on Monday for a four game series with Winston-Salem, dropping the opener Monday night by a 7-3 count at Haley Toyota Field.
Salem starting pitcher Daniel Gonzalez was touched up for four runs on seven hits and three walks in six innings against the Dash. Hunter Smith recorded one strikeout in a perfect inning of relief while Jake Cosart surrendered three runs on five hits, all doubles, in two innings. C.J. Chatham and Jordan Procyshen had two hits each for Salem.
The Sox were 10-7 after Monday’s loss, a game and a half behind Lynchburg in the Carolina League Northern Division second half standings. After the second game road trip, with a night off next Tuesday for the Major League All-Star game, the Sox will return home July 21 to begin a three game series with Potomac.
