Fincastle natives Laura and Dean Bower on opening day at the Catawba Farmers Market last year.

The Catawba Valley Farmers Market will open the 2019 season on Thursday, May 9.

This is the tenth season for the Market, which is held each Thursday from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m., at the Catawba Community Center on Catawba Creek Road (Rt. 779) just down from the Catawba Post Office.

Spaces are available for full-time and part-time vendors, with an emphasis on those who produce fruits, vegetables, meats and baked goods. The Farmers Market is especially interested in attracting vendors who sell cheese and prepared foods. A limited number of spaces are allotted to craft vendors.

On May 9 and again on Thursday, July 4, the Market will invite additional artisans and craftsmen to participate in Arts and Crafts Day.

All produce and other food items must be grown locally, within a 100-mile radius. All crafts must be handmade, also by local vendors. Anyone interested in selling at the Catawba Valley Farmers Market, full-time, part-time or on Arts and Crafts Day, should contact Ann Harrell, Market Manager, at 540-864-5913 or at catawbafarmersmarket@outlook.com. More information on the Catawba Valley Farmers Market is available at www.catawbafarmersmarket.com and on Facebook.
