Sheriff Eric Orange: “I want to thank everyone for taking the time out of their busy schedules to be here today March 5 at the Roanoke County Courthouse in support of this joint announcement. It has been an honor and a blessing to have served the citizens of Roanoke County as their Sheriff over the last three years. It should come as no surprise that I intend to seek re-election to the office of Roanoke County Sheriff in 2019. As I embark on my 2019 campaign, it is important to reflect on some of the successes of the last three years. In 2015, I campaigned on four very specific goals: assist with increasing safety and security in Roanoke County Public Schools, increase the number of inmate work crews providing services to the citizens of Roanoke County, increase our community outreach and engagement and do all of this with little to no additional fiscal impact on the citizens of Roanoke County. On November 5, 2019, a new Roanoke County Sheriff and Commonwealth Attorney will be named. I’m hoping that people give me that privileged opportunity. I also endorse Mr. Holohan’s campaign.”
Attorney Brian Holohan: “In 2005, I began my career as a prosecutor in Montgomery County. The next year I was hired by Randy Leach to be a Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Roanoke County. I spent the next 11 years working for Mr. Leach. During that time, I successfully prosecuted thousands of criminal cases, including the crimes of murder, manslaughter, rape, robbery, armed burglary, drug distribution and child abuse. My prosecution experience also encompassed fraud, larceny, traffic and juvenile cases. I have always been especially proud of my work prosecuting crimes against children and, in 2014, was given the Golden Halo award by the Children’s Trust in recognition of that work. I have dedicated the vast majority of my professional career to public service as a prosecutor because I believe it is a noble calling. I will be tough when needed and compassionate when deserved. I will always exercise the powers of the office with fairness, diligence, professionalism, integrity and humility. As Commonwealth’s Attorney, I will focus on protecting our families and preserving the quality of life that makes Roanoke County a great place to live.”
