The Salem High volleyball team will try to even their record tonight when the Spartans play at Blacksburg in a River Ridge District match.
Salem fell to 3-4 on Tuesday with a three set loss at Hidden Valley, 25-10, 25-17 and 25-8. Ella Walker had five blocks in the match to go with four kills while Kennedy Scales served three aces.
On Monday the Spartans won a non-district at William Fleming, beating the Colonels in straight sets. Salem swept Fleming 25-10, 25-10 and 25-2.
Salem’s Reese Redford and Mia Esworthy combined for 13 aces, with Reese serving seven and Mia six. Scales had five kills for the Spartans.
The Salemites were home last Thursday to host Christiansburg at the Andrew Lewis gym and the visiting Blue Demons won that one in three, 25-21, 25-19 and 25-22, despite nine kills by Scales. Kennedy also had four aces while Redford had 10 digs and two aces, Anne Hayden Hall has 13 assists and Sydney Price had 11 digs.
Next Tuesday, September 21, the girls will host Cave Spring at Lewis.
