The Roanoke College women picked up their third straight win to open the season with a 69-47 victory over visiting Meredith College at the Cregger Center last week.
The Maroons used a 19-2 opening quarter to put the Avenging Angels in a big hole. It was 39-11 at the half as Roanoke cruised to the win.
Renee Alquiza and Sayre Brandstatter finished with 12 points apiece to lead the Maroons with Kristina Harrel adding 10 points and a team-high six rebounds. Roanoke forced 29 Avenging Angel turnovers with Brandstatter and Whitney Hopson both recording five steals.
The Maroons are off this week, returning next Monday, November 29, with a 7 pm game against Mary Baldwin at the Cregger Center in Salem. Then, on Wednesday December 1, they’ll host Hollins University at 7:30 pm.
