The Andrew Lewis wrestlers hosted Northside, Clifton Forge and Blacksburg Middle Schools last week and beat all three in a quad match in Salem. The Wolverines beat Northside, 49-31, Clifton Forge, 66-18, and Blacksburg, 55-36.
“We were super proud of the effort from all of our guys up and down the lineup,” said Lewis coach Randall Sell. “It’s exciting to see the kids make gains and improve so quickly since the beginning of the season only a few weeks ago. Tonight we beat a Blacksburg, team that has beaten us twice this year. In addition, we had several kids beat kids that they lost to earlier in the year. It’s exciting as a coach to see kids buy into what you are teaching them and for them to start having some success with it.”
The Wolverines were scheduled to wrestle Cave Spring on Wednesday.
“They beat us in our second match of the year so we have plenty to be working for this week,” said Sell. “We are by no means where we want to be. We have a ways to go, but I like the progress to this point.”
