Sierra Sallah, the owner of Southwest Native, opened the doors to her storefront on March 10. The Maker’s Market welcomed the shop to the Crafteria with a large crowd of excited customers. The public was invited to celebrate the ribbon cutting with cupcakes while browsing the large range of handmade jewelry, clothing and classic accessories with a modern flare.

The store features pieces from Sallah and many other talented artisans.

“Southwest Native was founded with the help of 12 experienced and incredibly talented designers,” she said. “Nine of our 12 designers are trustworthy women-owned businesses; seven designers solely craft handmade pieces; and over half of our designers are well-established and resourceful in pledging to social causes for the better good of every one of us. As we grow, we will expand our design partners.”
Southwest Native also organizes a Cause + Effect campaign where each month the store has a special piece that is selected for exclusive purchase. For each exclusive purchase, $10 will be donated to a local organization. Past campaigns included Blue Ridge Literacy and Angels of Assisi. This month, Southwest Native is partnering with the Blue Ridge Women’s Center.
Southwest Native is located at 16 West Church Avenue SW Roanoke, Virginia 24011. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
