The Salem Red Sox will finish their 12 game road trip this week with games against the Delmarva Shorebirds in Salisbury, MD. The Shorebirds are a farm team of the Baltimore Orioles.
The Sox are in the midst of the 12 game road swing due to the Salem Fair taking up the Memorial Ballpark parking lot in Salem. The Red Sox went 4-2 in Lynchburg last week before losing the first game of six in Salisbury on Monday, 4-3. It was a rare Monday game due to the 4th of July falling on a Monday. The Sox were off Tuesday and will play single games against Delmarva Wednesday through Saturday at 7:05 pm before wrapping up the trip with a 5:05 pm game Sunday.
Through Monday the Sox were 40-36 on the season and 5-5 in the second half standings. They finished the first half of the 132 game Carolina League schedule with a 35-31 record.
Salem is back home next Tuesday, July 12, to begin a six game series with the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, a Chicago White Sox farm team. The team breaks from July 18-21 for the Major League All-Star week of festivities, returning July 22nd for a three game weekend series with Lynchburg.
Blaze Jordan is currently leading the Sox with a .301 batting average. Niko Kavadas led the team with 14 home runs and 48 runs batted in before being called to High A while Eddinson Paulino leads the Sox with 53 runs scored and 14 stolen bases.
