The Old Dominion Athletic Conference field hockey tournament will include the top six teams in the conference and is set to begin November 1st at the sites of the third and fourth seeds. Roanoke College is fourth coming into the week.
The third seed will host the sixth seed and the fourth will host the fifth in opening round games next Tuesday with the top two teams getting a bye. The one and two seeds will join the fun a week from today, hosting next Tuesday’s winner in the semifinal round. The championship is set for November 5.
Roanoke College comes into the week with a 5-2 ODAC record, hoping to move up. Shenandoah leads the ODAC at 6-0 and Washington & Lee and Lynchburg are tied for second, just a half game ahead of RC at 5-1. The Maroons were scheduled to play at Lynchburg in their final regular season match on Wednesday of this week.
Last Saturday in Winchester Shenandoah showed why they’re top-ranked with a 7-0 shutout win over the Maroons. That dropped Roanoke to 11-5 overall as Shenandoah improved to 15-1. The Hornets are the highest ranked team in the ODAC, sitting at No. 15 in the national polls.
