The Roanoke College volleyball team is in seventh place in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference standings with the tournament set to begin on Wednesday, November 2nd. The top four teams in the conference will host first round games with the championship set for November 6th.
Five teams are battling for the top spot with the regular season due to end this week. Virginia Wesleyan is 10-1 in ODAC matches coming into the week but four teams are tied for second, just one game back. Averett, Washington & Lee, Randolph-Macon and Bridgewater were all 9-2 prior to Tuesday’s action.
The Maroons are 5-7 in the conference after ending the regular season with a five set loss to Averett on Tuesday. With the loss Roanoke is in danger of falling out of the top eight, as Shenandoah and Eastern Mennonite are both 4-6.
The Maroons swept two non-conference matches last Saturday in Towson, MD against host Goucher College and Rutgers-Camden. The Maroons beat Goucher three sets to one and Rutgers-Camden three to none to even their overall record at 11-11 for the season.
