Will Turner of Roanoke College has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball Pitcher of the Week after a busy weekend of action for the Maroons.

Turner, a senior from Moneta, Va., made the most of his first appearance of the year as he went the distance in leading Roanoke to an 8-1 victory over Franklin & Marshall College Saturday morning. Turner tossed all nine frames for a traditional complete game. He allowed one run and scattered six hits and did not walk a batter while fanning five.

Turner surrendered his lone run and three hits in the first inning but enjoyed several stretches of consistent suc- cess including, 10 straight outs from the fifth through the eighth innings. He rolled two double-play balls and induced 10 ground ball outs in control- ling the Diplomats’ offense.

Roanoke was back on the diamond at 6 pm Saturday and got another outstanding effort on the mound as Salem High grad Caleb Lingenfelter picked up his second win of the sea-

son. Lingenfelter pitched six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out six in the 8-2 RC win.

Conner Butler, Tucker Schiavoni and Mason Staz had two hits each for the Maroons against Brockport and Schiavoni drove in three runs. Butler had a triple and two runs batted in.

The Maroons played their third game of the weekend on Sunday night at Salem Memorial Ballpark and dropped a 7-3 game to Marietta, the 15th ranked team in Division III.

Roanoke led 3-2 after seven innings but Marietta scored three in the eighth and two in the ninth to pull out the win. Isaac Brooks took the loss in relief for RC, giving up all three runs in the top of the eighth. Mariette pitchers scat- tered five hits and allowed no earned runs.

Now 6-5, the Maroons are out of town for spring break this week. They have games at Johns Hopkins on Tuesday and Wednesday, then play a doubleheader at Eastern Mennonite Saturday.
