The Andrew Lewis Middle School Auditorium served as the setting for the annual City of Salem Spelling Bee last Thursday morning. Individual champions from Salem’s four elementary schools and Andrew Lewis competed for six rounds before Audrey Lee correctly spelled the word “stomach” to capture the 2024 title. The Andrew Lewis 7th grader, who is in Cynthia Bowen’s class, will now represent Salem in the regional spelling bee on March 16 at Radford University.
