The Roanoke College women improved to 11-3
in lacrosse and 6-1 in Old Dominion Athletic
Conference games with a 21-1 spanking of Averett
University in Danville Saturday.
With the win the Maroons stayed in the hunt
for the top spots in the conference come tournament time.
Their only loss has been to first place
Washington & Lee, who is 7-0 in the ODAC.
Lynchburg is also 6-1. The Maroons have three conference games
remaining, including a 3:30 pm Alumni Weekend
game at Salem’s Kerr Stadium Saturday against
Virginia Wesleyan. Roanoke was scheduled to host
Randolph College on Wednesday of this week but
results were too late for publication.
Last Saturday in Danville it wasn’t a contest as
Roanoke scored 10 unanswered goals in the first
quarter and never looked back. Maddie McDonald
scored three times in the first quarter and wrapped
up the game with four goals and one assist.
Raegan Becker notched three goals and two assists
and Kate Loughran also tallied five points, finishing
with two goals and three assists. The Salem Spartan
duo of Zoe Blair and Libby Bowman combined for
three goals with Zoe notching two and Libby one.
The ODAC tournament is scheduled to begin on
Monday, April 29.
