The Salem and Glenvar tennis teams

Salem sweeping the season series in

“The proximity of the schools was
mirrored in the results,” said Salem
coach Steve Willinger.

McIlwain 6-1, 6-0, at number one
and Joren Poush edged Logan Garner
in a 13-11 tiebreaker at second singles. Cooper Davis and the Highlanders’

as did the Spartans’ Logan Butcher and
Glenvar’s Christian Hill, with both wins
going to the host Spartans.
In the fifth position Charlie McDonald
also split sets with Ellliot Mclintic before
prevailing, 10-6 in the breaker. Glenvar’s
number Alan Harvey outlasted Alan
Burr to give his team their singles point.
Salem then took two of three doubles
with Glenvar winning at number two.
In the girls’ match, at Glenvar, the
Spartans won singles matches by, in ladder order, Claire Rawlins, Lauren Baba,

Nguyen and Anna Spence. Salem then
swept the doubles, losing only three
games in the match of nine pro sets.
On Monday Glenvar teams bounced
back with wins over Patrick County.
