Susan Gale Morgan (Lugar) April 2, 1945 – May 10, 2024, of Salem, VA, previously of Richmond, VA.  Susan’s health and peace have been restored in heaven.  She has been gleefully reunited with her mother, Jean Elizabeth Hatton Lugar (Gammummie) and her father, William Alda Lugar.  Susan was known by many as a spirited, active, fun-loving woman whose devotion to family was unparalleled.  She was incredibly competitive by nature and enjoyed playing tennis, both competitively and with friends, for many years.  She claimed that her biggest strength was just to “keep the ball in play” until her opponent made an error.  Susan enjoyed watching almost any sport and often kept stats for fun.  Susan graduated Summa Cum Laude from Virginia Western and spent many years working as a programmer at Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company.  She volunteered with the local ADA (American Diabetes Association).  Susan is survived by her incredibly loving husband, Tom Morgan, her children – Trey Batts (wife Gina) and Cory Batts Gregory (husband Jeff), and stepson, Danny Morgan.  She was incredibly close to her 3 siblings, Sherry Coish (husband Ron), Billy Lugar (wife Julie), and Mike Lugar (wife Marion).  She was a doting “Gandma” to her grandsons, Lathan and Cade Gregory and her step-grandchildren, Aydin, Easton, and Alexandria Morgan. Susan was also a loving aunt to her nieces, Summer Coish, Katie Lugar Palmer, and Cassie Lugar Thompson and nephews; Peter Coish, Michael Lugar, and Will Lugar.  The family plans to have a “Celebration of Life” in the near future.  Details will be shared via Facebook and johnmoakey.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, the ASPCA, or Shriners Hospital.
