The Salem Moose Family Center 2573 recently made a donation of $8,000 to the Salem Area Ecumenical Ministries (SAEM) to support community initiatives. This donation specifically aids Mrs. Dorsey’s Clothes Closet, which provides essential clothing and household items to those in need. Additionally, the funds will support the School Feeding Programs that address food insecurity among at-risk students in the Salem area.
SAEM expressed appreciation for the ongoing support from the Salem Moose Family Center by presenting the group with a certificate of appreciation, acknowledging its contributions over the past two years.
The Salem Moose Family Center takes pride in its community service efforts, highlighting their commitment as the “heart of the community,” according to Butch Bryant, the Moose Lodge president.
During the past three months, Mrs. Dorsey’s Clothes Closet served 3,008 guests with 258 new guests registering during the period.
Mrs. Dorsey’s Clothes Closet is located at 825 S Colorado St. in Salem and relies on the community to provide support with donated clothes and accessories, small household appliances, books, personal hygiene items and school supplies.
This collaborative effort between the Salem Moose Family Center and SAEM demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting the local community and addressing critical needs through both financial contributions and volunteer efforts, the organizations said.
For those interested in contributing, donations can be made online at www.saemva.org or mailed to SAEM’s address at P.O. Box 737, Salem, VA 24153.
Also, Mrs. Dorsey’s Clothes Closet is in need of volunteers to provide assistance to guests or to sort donations and assist with stocking the clothes racks. Volunteers typically contribute one or two days per month. To assist, please call 540-389-4889 or email: info@saemva.org.
