Salem/Roanoke Valley Coin Show: The next Salem/Roanoke Valley Coin Show will be held Saturday, Aug. 24 from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 25 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the American Legion Building at 710 Apperson Dr. in Salem. Forty tables of coin dealers from several states will be selling coins, paper money, medals, tokens, gold and silver. Free admission and parking.
General Andrew Lewis: Colonial Hero at the Salem Museum: Step back in time with the Salem Museum to the Colonial era on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy a full day of living history. Historians in Colonial-era attire will bring the past to life for kids and families alike. Salem’s very own Revolutionary War hero General Andrew Lewis will present two talks on his extraordinary life and times at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. All events are free to the public. Colonial living historians from the Fincastle Company will demonstrate the professions, trades, and crafts essential to the era while telling stories about the brave men and women who built a life on Virginia’s frontier with determination and heroic deeds.

Book Sale: Friends of the Salem Library will hold their annual book sale the weekend of Sept. 13-15. Sales open on Friday at 9 a.m. for members, followed by the public from 12-7 p.m. The sale continues from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday. It ends with a big sale day on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. The sale will include thousands of books, DVDs and CDs.
Warren Haynes Band: The Warren Haynes Band, led by GRAMMY® Award-winning vocalist, songwriter, guitar legend, producer, and Gov’t Mule front man Warren Haynes, has announced their Million Voices Whisper Tour. The new 16-date fall headlining tour launches Sept. 19 in Fort Lauderdale and stops in Salem Sept. 29, before wrapping Oct. 12 in Boston.
