The Bristol Virginia Police Department now believes a missing Bristol woman is somewhere in Salem.
On Dec. 23, 2024, Bristol authorities asked for the public’s help in locating 66-year-old Della Marie Johnson. Johnson was last seen by her family in Bristol on Nov. 17, 2024.
Authorities said she does not drive but may have left the area with a friend in an unknown vehicle type. Johnson has several medical conditions that require daily medication. She is 5-foot-five-inches, weighs 150 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair.
Det. Lt. Steven Crawford, of the Bristol Police Department, explained he originally thought Johnson may have been headed to Blacksburg or Roanoke, but was able to confirm she’s likely somewhere in Salem after two of her medications were filled in the city. He hit a dead end after collaborating with CVS to find that she was still using her Bristol address. “They haven’t updated Salem addressing, so we don’t know exactly where they are, but we know they’re in that area right now,” he said. He added that both CVS and Salem law enforcement authorities are cooperating with the investigation.
Crawford went on to note that her family is still “very concerned for her safety.”
