Progress was made last week on taking down Massingill Auditorium on the Roanoke College campus to make way for the new Shaun McConnon Discovery Center. The auditorium was built in 1970, named after Samuel Massengill. He was the founder of Massengill Pharmaceutical Company and an 1892 graduate of the college. Many science classes, lectures and special events were held in the auditorium over the years.
