The Rescue Squad received this award in 1990 for “Outstanding EMS Agency.” The Rescue Squad has been saving lives and tending to emergencies since their founding in 1932. They are regularly reward for their dedicated service and you can see some of their many trophies on display now at the Salem Museum.
This 1990 award is on display during Hands-On History Saturdays in March. Visit anytime to see more trophies and learn more in “Service Through Knowledge: The History of the Salem Rescue Squad,” on display in the feature gallery.
The Museum will also host two events dedicated to the Rescue Squad this month. For their monthly lecture series, the Museum will highlight the Squad’s history on Thursday, March 13 at 7pm. Members of the Rescue Squad will be at the Museum on March 29 from 10-4 to display equipment and discuss their memories of service. All events and exhibits are free and open to the public.
