Warner Visits American Legion

Sen. Mark Warner met with veterans from across the Roanoke Valley at the American Legion Post 3 in Salem last week to discuss the impact of the Trump administration’s recent actions, including cuts to the Veterans Affairs workforce. “The level of uncertainty as more and more people get fired…you don’t know if you’re going to have your PT specialist there or your counselor. These guys deserve better,” he said.

As part of the discussion, Warner heard from veterans who expressed concern about how these changes might affect their health care. He later said he had been barred from entering the Salem VA Medical Center. “If somebody up in Washington somehow was trying to prevent me, it seems, from going on campus…they tried to come up with excuses this morning, but part of my job is to do oversight,” he said.
