There are children in Glenvar who are two years old who don’t remember Glenvar losing a boys’ soccer game!

The Highlanders won beat Radford at Glenvar Tuesday, 4-0, to improve to 12-0 on the season. With the win Glenvar has not lost in their past 50 games, dating back to the first week of April in 2023 when the Highlanders lost to Salem. Glenvar tied Radford on May 10 of that year, 4-4, and the Highlanders have won 42 straight games since, including two Class 2 state championships.

On Tuesday at GHS Aidan Hylton scored twice, Kian Fisher had a goal and three assists and Adam Saunders scored a goal in the win over Radford. This one went 33 minutes before the Highlanders scored before Hylton’s two goals and one by Saunders, all assisted by Fisher, put the Highlanders up 3-1 at the half. Glenvar outshot the Bobcats 23-3.

This was Glenvar’s 11th shutout in 12 games and the Highlanders have outscored the opposition 79-1 playing teams from Class 1 to Class 6. The last team to beat Glenvar, Salem High, dropped the Highlanders from their schedule following the 2023 season.

The Highlanders are 8-0 in the district, including a 9-0 win over Carroll County in Hillsville last week. Fisher and Kees Van Gerven had two goals each in that one and Glenvar also got goals from Saunders, Avery McClanahan, Griffin Geddes, Wesley Feliciano and Connor Magruder.

The Highlanders will put their 50 game streak on the line again tonight when they host Alleghany. Next Monday they’re at Floyd County and Wednesday, May 14, Cave Spring comes to Glenvar.
