Salem’s Jeremiah Wilson, a senior at the University of Virginia, has qualified for the NCAA East Regional Track Meet at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL this week. Wilson will be competing in the 110 high hurdles.

This will be the first round of regional competition. Florida will host the east first round and Texas A&M University, in College Station, Texas will host the west first round. The qualifiers out of these two regions will compete in the NCAA DI men’s and women’s outdoor track and field championships held June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon.

Wilson qualified for the East Regional at the ACC meet at Kentner Stadium on the campus of Wake Forest University on May 17. Jeremiah finished 10th in the 110 high hurdles with a personal best time of 13.95, the sixth best all-time mark in UVA track history.

In a prior meet this year Jeremiah won the men’s 110-meter hurdles at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, crossing the line in 14.17 seconds. During the indoor season he ran a season’s best in the 60 meter hurdles at the ACC championships and he also took a bronze medal in the 60 hurdles final at the Virginia Tech Challenge with a time of 8.07.

Wilson, the son of Salem’s Tra and Kristy Wilson, was the Virginia High School League Class 4 champion in the 55 hurdles in 2020. He was named all-state five times for the Spartans before the outdoor meet his senior year was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.
