
Hundreds gathered at Green Hill Park on Friday evening, June 20, to celebrate the arrival of summer at the annual Hello Summer Festival, hosted by Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
The free event featured a packed schedule of activities from 6 to 10 p.m., offering something for all ages. Families enjoyed games of laser tag, inflatable attractions in the Kid Zone, face painting and corn hole from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
Live music filled the air as The Jared Stout Band took the stage from 7 to 9:30 p.m., performing their signature blend of alt-country with Appalachian and blues influences. The highlight of the night came at 9:30 p.m. with the region’s first Airloom drone show, lighting up the sky in a dazzling, choreographed display.
Food and beverages were available throughout the evening from a variety of local vendors, including Copper Dog and Co., Palumbos, Slinging Wieners, CharLee Tropical and Smooshed.
