The Roanoke College women’s track & field team as well as Ophelia Ladner earned All-Academic accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This is the second consecutive year that the women’s side has taken All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA.
With the individual honor, Ladner adds to her haul of academic awards this season, which includes ODAC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Scholar Athlete of the Year, VaSID Academic All-State, ODAC All-Academic, and CSC Academic All-District teams.
In addition, five Roanoke College student-athletes earned spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Softball Team. Baylee Compton, Madison Cooke, Lindsay Gedro, Kassidy Lancos and Adriana Rivera were honored from the Maroon softball squad that finished the season strong, winning seven of the last 10 contests.
Compton, a sophomore business administration and marketing major, is from Roanoke. Cooke, a Spanish, Special Education and Teaching English as a second language major is a senior from Ashburn, Va. Gedro, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va., is a health and exercise science major. Lancos, a criminal justice major, is a senior from Irvine, Cali. Rivera, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va. is a psychology major.
