Donna Littlepage, a longtime healthcare executive and community advocate, officially launched her campaign for the Virginia House of Delegates District 40 with a kickoff event on Wednesday, July 23, at the Roanoke Council of Garden Clubs.
Littlepage, who won the Democratic nomination in the June primary, is set to challenge Republican incumbent Del. Joseph P. McNamara in the Nov. 4 general election. The district includes the city of Salem and parts of the Roanoke Valley.
The campaign event featured food, guest speakers and remarks from Littlepage outlining her priorities for the region. In her speech, she emphasized a commitment to bipartisanship and pragmatic problem-solving in Richmond.
“Southwest Virginia deserves a leader who will put people over politics, work across the aisle, and bring real solutions—not just talk—to Richmond,” Littlepage told supporters. “As a business and finance professional, I know how to balance budgets without cutting the care and support that our neighbors rely on.”
Littlepage brings more than 35 years of experience in business and finance at Carilion Clinic, including service as vice president of finance, and a decade as chief financial officer at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. She has lived in Roanoke for 25 years and is active in numerous civic and nonprofit organizations, including the Healthcare Financial Management Association, DePaul Community Resources, Family Service of Roanoke Valley, and the Roanoke Women’s Foundation.
Her campaign platform focuses on fiscal responsibility, healthcare access—including support for Medicaid and Medicare—education, senior care, and protecting reproductive freedom. She said she intends to offer “thoughtful leadership that respects community values and ensures everyone has a fair shot at success.
