After 35 years of serving the Salem community, Famous Anthony’s will permanently close its location at 1716 W. Main St. on Saturday, July 27.

The announcement was made July 20, with the restaurant expressing gratitude to its loyal customers who have supported the Salem location since it opened in 1986.

“We’re grateful for the memories and loyal customers who’ve made it home,” the restaurant shared in a statement. “It’s our customers that make us famous.”

Though the Salem location is closing, Famous Anthony’s staff will remain local. Most team members will transfer to the restaurant’s Williamson Road location, which is preparing for a fresh start.

Known for its family-friendly atmosphere, customer-focused service, and comfort food, Famous Anthony’s has become a staple in the Roanoke Valley, serving multiple generations. The restaurant remains family owned and operated, and customers often see Mr. Anthony himself visiting locations.

A farewell celebration is planned for Saturday, July 27. Doors will close at 9 p.m., and patrons are invited to stop by, enjoy a final meal, and share their memories.
