Salem’s teachers and support staff returned to work this week, preparing classrooms and resources for the start of the 2025-26 school year. The group reconnected over lunch at Salem High School, sharing summer stories before gathering in the auditorium for an update from Superintendent Curtis Hicks and other division leaders. Topics ranged from the evolution of artificial intelligence and school security measures to recent success stories within the division. This year’s opening day, Monday, Aug. 18, marks the earliest start date in the 44-year history of Salem City Schools.
