The Glenvar Middle School football team defeated Patrick County in a scoring duel last Thursday, 56-52 at Highlander Stadium.
Kiptyn Jones threw threw touchdown passes, two to Noah Stevens and one each to Ryland Marshall and Laithen Keys. Kindrex Thompson rushed for two touchdowns and Stevens and Kaiden Williams each rushed for one.
Jaxson Myers and Raylan Franklin led Glenvar in tackles with six each. The Highlandes were down by four points with 1:27 to play with the ball and were able to drive down the field and take the lead with 23 seconds remaining.
“We definitely have to clean up some things on the defensive end but did well to move the ball offensively,” said coach Josh Jones. “We will just keep trying to improve as the season progresses.”
