Senior Ryan Pidgeon of the Roanoke College men’s soccer team has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week.
Pidgeon takes home the honor after two standout performances last week to help the Maroons go 2-0 for the week and 6-1 overall. The midfielder scored the game winner and only goal in a 1-0 win against William Peace in the final minute of RC’s midweek contest. Then, on Saturday, he tallied two goals, including the game-winner, against Penn State Abington as the Maroons pitched another shutout, 2-0.
Aidan McHugh played all 90 minutes in net and registered five saves on the afternoon for his second consecutive clean sheet.
This is the first time in his career that Pidgeon has won a weekly accolade. It is also the first time this season that Roanoke has picked up a weekly award.
Pidgeon and the #23 ranked Maroons return to the pitch on Wednesday (Sep. 24) as they make the trip to Lexington to take on Washington & Lee in a 7 pm non-conference game. This Saturday Roanoke will host Shenandoah University at 6 pm at Salem’s Kerr Stadium. It will be Senior Recognition Day and it’s also Family Weekend at RC.
