The Andrew Lewis Middle School Football team ran their record to 5-1-1 on the season with a 24-14 win over Ben Franklin Middle School in Franklin County last week.
The Wolverines were led by the rushing of Zyere Richardson and the passing of Pearce Oliver, who threw two touchdown passes. Carter Webb caught five passes for Lewis.
“The offensive line did a good job of pass protection,” said coach Brian Hooker.
On defense the Wolverines played their best game of the season. The defensive line of Ernest Burke, Grant Martin, Maddox Saunders, Tyler Coe, Ryan Borzotra, Elijah Regan and Zaire Reynolds kept the Eagles offense contained. Ian Rosier had a key interception late in the game.
The Wolverines will be back in action this Thursday at Salem Stadium at 5 pm against Northside Middle School, then wrap things up with a home game against Pulaski next Wednesday, October 8.
The Andrew Lewis 7th grade team is 6-2 on the season after a 58-0 blitz of Northside on Monday at Northside. The 7th grade squad will complete their season on October 9th with a game at Central Academy in Botetourt County.
