The Roanoke College men’s soccer team dropped their Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener last Saturday when the Maroons lost to Shenandoah. The Hornets shut out the Maroons, 2-0, on a rainy night at Salem Kerr Stadium.
Shenandoah took advantage of a corner and finished off a short clear in the second half to go up 1-0. They then scored in the waning seconds of the game to double the score.
Seniors Adam Shaia, Kyle Butcher, Will Fatzinger, Carter Laatsch, Lucas Pace, and Aidan McHugh were honored in a pregame Senior Day ceremony for their contributions to the program. The Maroons dropped to 6-3 overall with the loss.
The Maroons were scheduled to return to the pitch Wednesday for a non-conference match against Mary Washington in Fredricksburg. This Saturday they head to Bridgewater for a 4 pm ODAC game.
