Left to right, Mason Young, JD Williamson and John Deel competed for Glenvar in the Region 2C golf tournament.

Two Three Rivers District teams, Floyd County and James River, advanced to the state Class 2 tournament at the Hobbs Hole Course in Rappahannock next Tuesday. Floyd was first and River was second at the Region 2C tournament at the Falling River Country Club in Appomattox.

Glenvar had three individuals in the tournament, JD Williamson, John Deel and Mason Young. Williamson shot an 85, which wasn’t low enough to advance to the state tournament but earned him second team All-Region honors. Deel shot 88 and Young carded 90.

“The day did not go as planned for us in Appomattox,” said Glenvar coach Shawn Duff. “Falling River was a tough challenge. We have had a year of growth and learning and we will hopefully put our disappointment into the off season. We have lots of potential and the coaches can’t wait to see the team build and improve.”
